Mohun Bagan Wins 3-1 Against East Bengal to Secure ISL Playoff Spot

At the Salt Lake Stadium on Sunday, Mohun Bagan defeated their bitter rivals 3-1 in their Indian Super League return leg thanks to one of their best performances of the year. After Cleiton Silva's missed penalty kick in the 14th minute, Mohun Bagan scored three goals in as many minutes through goals from Jason Cummings (27th), Liston Colaco (36th), and Dimitri Petratos (45' penalty). This gave Mohun Bagan a 3-0 lead at the half. East Bengal pulled one back through a goal from Saul Crespo (53rd), his first-ever ISL goal, but Mohun Bagan were back to their best and made sure there would be no more slippage to preserve the 3-1 score.
With the victory, Mohun Bagan moved up to the playoff spot and past Mumbai City in the standings based on goal differential.

With one game remaining, Mohun Bagan remains the clear favorite for the Shield despite the fact that both teams now have 36 points apiece.
East Bengal has lost and is no longer in the play-off race.
In the eighth minute, Petratos found an unmarked Cummings with a cross from the left, giving Mohun Bagan an early chance, but Cummings' header went wide.
East Bengal was given a penalty in the thirteenth minute after Cleiton, who had the ball, was tripped by Vishal Kaith. In the end, though, Kaith made a stunning save by extending to his left in order to preserve the Cleiton spotkick.Suddenly, Cummings found himself in a position to score from the edge of the box after the goalkeeper of East Bengal gave a rebound, giving Mohun Bagan the much-needed lead.

Before Sahal took possession, Joni Kauko started the move from the midfield, but an East Bengal defender's mishandle allowed Petratos to get the ball.
The Australian attempted to score quickly, but the diving goalkeeper blocked it. Cummings scored with a right-footed strike to the upper left corner after gaining possession of the ball quickly.
