JSW MG Motor India has unveiled its new ADAPT (Advance Drive Architecture Platform Technology) platform, marking a major step in the company's future strategy for new-energy vehicles in India. The company announced that it will introduce two new SUVs during FY2026-27—one fully electric vehicle (EV) and one plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). Built specifically for Indian market needs, ADAPT is described as the country's first multi-new-energy vehicle (NEV) platform, capable of supporting multiple powertrain technologies on a single architecture. These include battery electric vehicles (EVs), hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), and range-extender electric vehicles (REEVs). This flexible platform is expected to reduce development costs, improve manufacturing efficiency, and allow MG to launch a wider range of electrified vehicles more quickly. Along with unveiling the new platform, JSW MG Motor India announced an investment of around ₹1,400 crore to support its future product plans, localization efforts, and manufacturing expansion.

The upcoming EV and plug-in hybrid SUVs will both be larger than 4.3 metres in length and will target the fast-growing premium SUV segment in India. Although MG has not yet revealed the names or technical specifications of these models, the company said they will combine modern technology, improved efficiency, advanced safety features, and connected-car capabilities. By using a common modular platform, MG can build different types of electrified vehicles with greater flexibility while responding quickly to changing customer preferences and market demand. The ADAPT platform also reflects MG's long-term vision of accelerating the adoption of new-energy vehicles in India. Company officials noted that interest in EVs has started to grow again due to rising fuel prices, better charging infrastructure, and increasing awareness of environmental benefits. MG believes plug-in hybrid vehicles will play an important role during the transition from conventional petrol and diesel vehicles to fully electric mobility because they offer electric driving for daily use while retaining a petrol engine for longer journeys. By offering EVs, hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and range-extender models from a single platform, MG aims to provide customers with multiple choices based on their driving needs and budget.
