At the DLTA Complex on Saturday, top-seeded Lidia Podgorichani of Thailand defeated Maria Golovina in the girls' final of the ITF junior tennis competition, 6-2, 6-2. The 80th-ranked Lidia, who had won the singles championship in Chandigarh last week, outperformed Maria, who had gone unbeaten for more than two weeks, with a clinical display.Maria struggled to accept the loss because she had defeated a number of strong players this week. She actually started crying during the second set and didn't stop until the match was over. Maria was even more disappointed that her game was so messed up that she couldn't offer a decent challenge.

Lidia was happy with the way she performed. Quick to clarify, the Thai player would not be playing at the Australian Open; instead, she would be defending points in the upcoming tournament in Kolkata. The same was true for Serbia's Ognjen Milic, the boys champion, who engaged in a tough left-handed match and used his passionate play to irritate top seed NIkita Bilozertsev. When Nikita pulled out, unable to motivate himself to battle any longer, the slender Milic was ahead 6-3, 4-0.Ognjen Milic declared he will travel to Kolkata for the upcoming competition and work hard to get ready for the French Open in the later part of the season.
