According to rumors, Apple is reorganizing its AirPods lineup, with the current entry-level Apple earphones being replaced by fourth-generation models. According to reports, the new models will be the largest AirPods release to date and will include a number of enhancements, including a redesigned charging case. Active noise cancellation (ANC), which was previously exclusive to AirPods Pro models, is also apparently coming to one of the two fourth-generation AirPods models.
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman confirmed in his most recent Power On newsletter that Apple was preparing two new entry-level AirPods, the fourth generation, to replace the current models, which are the second and third generations. The new models will have a new design, better fit, and USB Type-C charging cases. They are codenamed B768(E) and B768(M), where the E is supposed to stand for "entry" and the M for "mid-tier." Gurman also mentioned that the Find My Speakers feature and ANC will be included in the case of the mid-tier AirPods to assist users in finding their misplaced earphones.
Gurman added that foreign vendors are about to begin producing the new line of truly wireless stereo (TWS) earphones, and that Apple suppliers were preparing for the "biggest AirPods launch to date." He stated in the newsletter that "the company is planning to produce 20 million to 25 million units of the earbuds, an increase over prior new models." According to reports, GoerTek and Luxshare will start production in May, and an official release is scheduled for September or October.
As previously reported, Apple is expected to release a new AirPods Pro model in 2025 as a follow-up to the fourth-generation AirPods. It is anticipated that the third generation AirPods Pro will feature an upgraded H3 chip, a new earbud design, and enhanced Active Noise Cancellation (ANC).
With the release of iOS 18, the Cupertino, California-based company also plans to update its lineup of wireless earphones. In addition to a hearing-test function, AirPods Pro may get a hearing aid mode to assist users with hearing loss.
Right now, Apple charges Rs. 12,900 for a set of second-generation AirPods and Rs. 19,900 for a third-generation model. During its "Wonderlust" event in September of last year, Apple updated the AirPods Pro model, which costs Rs. 24,900, by adding a USB Type-C port to the
