When Bhumi Pednekar was working on Bhakshak, a film inspired by true events, she stated she wondered about her personal response to headlines revealing incidents of abuse.In her latest film Bhakshak, actor Bhumi Pednekar plays an investigative journalist who discovers the sexual assault of young children at a shelter hBhumi revealed that while working on the true-story film, she wondered about her personal response to news detailing incidents of abuse."I don't think I'll ever be able to get over Bhakshak because it deals with a real issue that society is facing with young children. This is not limited to any particular region of India; it could be occurring in any part of the world. In an interview with PTI, the actor said, "It's overwhelming, it enrages you, and it also makes you question what you are doing about it.""I sincerely hope the movie makes viewers think twice about the choices they make. It got me thinking about how I had lost my empathy and how I had stopped feeling other people's misery," she continued.With Bhakshak, Bhumi Pednekar—who made a strong film debut in 2015 with Dum Laga Ke Haisha—realized that cinema can be an effective medium for bringing significant concerns to light. She has since appeared in films such as Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Bala, and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan."I was disappointed to learn that someone's reality served as my study material for the film. The terrible truth of how many kids live in these refuge families is what we witness (in the movie). They were unaware that there should be more to life than this.

The actor stated, "Some of them were so little that they had no idea what was going on with them.In the film, Bhumi portrays Vaishali Singh, a local reporter from Bihar who works to uncover instances of sexual assault in a home for girls in need of refuge. "As a public figure, all I can hope for is that this film finds the correct audience who will be impacted by it and take action,” the woman continued. The actor gives director Pulkit credit for assisting her in bringing the role to life on screen. Based on a script he co-wrote with Jyotsana Nath, he directed the movie. "I genuinely think that this performance may be among my most mature ones. And it resulted from the fact that he simply provided me with a platform to search on while demonstrating such great faith in me. Together, we created Vaishali Singh. Her quiet powerome. She adds that there are some tales that are hard to move on from and that leave one outraged and questioning.
