What experiences are Indian couples looking for on their honeymoons, and where are they going? By comparing booking data from October 2023 to September 2024 to the same time the previous year, MakeMyTrip's most recent analysis, "How India Travels for Honeymoon," provides insights into the changing travel habits, trends, and preferences of couples going on their honeymoons.According to the research, Thailand is the most popular honeymoon destination among Indian couples, accounting for the largest percentage of honeymoon package reservations on MakeMyTrip in 2023–2024. Thailand surpassed the Maldives, which topped the rankings the previous year, with a remarkable 5.2% year-over-year (YoY) growth in its booking share. Bookings for honeymoon packages fell 16.2% year over year in the Maldives, while all five of the top overseas locations—Indonesia, Mauritius, and Vietnam—saw increases this year.
On the domestic front, the Andamans replaced Kerala as the most booked honeymoon destination, increasing its share of honeymoon package bookings by 6.9% year on year. Kashmir, which gained 3.6% in bookings, moved to third place. The number of bookings for Goa remained the same as last year while Himachal Pradesh saw a decline of 4% in honeymoon package bookings. The North-East, Uttarakhand and Maharashtra also drew attention from Indian couples seeking domestic honeymoon destinations.
