The Northeast is becoming a more popular tourism destination, according to both experts and data.Nestled in the most remote region of the nation, Northeast India was kept a secret for many years. Being from here, I wasn't surprised when people asked me where I was from after I mentioned Assam. Assam is highlighted in the report as a location free of crowds that is becoming more well-known worldwide and experiencing easier access.Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya, was named the most popular location for Indian tourists this year in another research called the 'Travel Trends research 2025', which was published by the travel website Skyscanner. This pattern implies that the Northeast is not only being explored by Indians but is also growing in popularity among tourists from other countries.Interest and demand for visiting the northeastern states have significantly increased since the outbreak. The region has actually not only returned to pre-pandemic travel levels, but has even exceeded them, according to data. In 2022, 118.45 lakh domestic tourists visited the northeastern states, up from 95 lakh in 2019, according to preliminary figures from the Government of India's Ministry of Tourism. It looks like this upward trend is continuing, and more rises are anticipated.
