10m air rifle gold is won by Elavenil Valarivan at the Asian Shooting Championship.

With a typically calm performance in the final, Indian shooter Elavenil Valarivan won the gold medal in the women's 10m air rifle discipline at the 16th Asian Championships in Shymkent on Friday, August 22, 2025.With a final score of 253.6, the 26-year-old Tamil Nadu native, who has won numerous gold medals at World Cups, won her second gold at the continental showcase. Her first gold came in 2019 in Taiwan while she was training under Olympic medallist shooter Gagan Narang at his Gun for Glory Academy.

With a score of 253, Xinlu Peng of China won silver, and Eunji Kwon of Korea earned bronze with a score of 231.2.Valarivan had previously won silver and bronze in the team events, but this was his first time placing on the individual podium in the current competition.Mehuli Ghosh, another Indian competitor, finished in fourth place with a score of 208.9 in the eight-shooter final.With a score of 630.7, Valarivan had advanced to the final in eighth place. Arya Borse (633.2) and Sonam Maskar (630.5), two other Indians who had previously placed 10th in the event with a score of 630.3, moved aside to make the final because they were only vying for ranking points.
