The Science of Happiness center will be established at IIT Madras.

In addition to advancing research and instruction in the science of happiness, this new center aims to incorporate happiness studies within the academic program.The "Rekhi Centre of Excellence for the Science of Happiness" was established by the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) in partnership with the Rekhi Foundation for Happiness. The Rekhi Foundation for Happiness does not operate for profit. This Center of Excellence, which will be established in the Department of Management Studies (DoMS), IIT Madras, will concentrate on a number of topics, one of which is incorporating happiness studies into the academic program.

IIT Madras is promoting the study and teaching of happiness science through this project, acknowledging its vital significance in all-encompassing education and individual development. The center will concentrate on creating and implementing educational programs that enable children to develop emotional resilience, promote happiness, and live meaningful lives.On March 24, in front of Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, DoMS faculty members, Prof. M. Thenmozhi, Head of the Department, Prof. Rupashree Baral and Prof. Srinivasan S., and other stakeholders, Dr. Satinder Singh Rekhi, founder of the Rekhi Foundation for Happiness, and Professor Manu Santhanam, Dean (IC&SR), IIT Madras, signed an agreement for this collaboration."The goal of this initiative should be to cultivate an ideal student-faculty environment, reinforcing the idea that true learning and holistic personal growth extend beyond academic scores," stated Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, in his remarks at the MoU signing event.Dr. Satinder Singh Rekhi, the founder of the Rekhi Foundation for Happiness, elaborated on the necessity of this kind of cooperation by stating, "Happy people are more successful," reaffirming his belief that no matter what someone does, they can do it more cheerfully. He also discussed the "Monkey Brain," a restless, nervous mentality that causes tension and discontent.The goal of the Rekhi Centre for the Science of Happiness is to use philosophical and scientific methods to better understand and promote happiness through research, education, and outreach initiatives. It is anticipated that the partnership would open the door for creative approaches to improve the overall growth and well-being of the campus community and beyond.
