Time of the vice presidential election: All Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha members will cast ballots in the electoral college starting at 10 a.m. and ending at 5 p.m. Vote counting will start that same day at 6 p.m. Twelve Rajya Sabha nominated members, 543 elected Lok Sabha members (one seat is presently vacant), and 233 elected Rajya Sabha members (five seats are currently vacant) make up the electoral college.The ruling NDA, which has a resounding majority in both chambers of Parliament, has the numbers on its side. The BJP-led NDA is supported by 293 members of the 542-member Lok Sabha. 129 Rajya Sabha members support the ruling alliance, giving it an effective strength of 240. For the vice-presidential vote, the combined effective strength of the two Houses is 781.
