Chief of the state party K Sudhakaran labeled a female Congress leader who expressed concerns about the lack of women in the party's Kerala Lok Sabha candidate lineup as "a nobody" on Sunday, brusquely brushing off the discussion of representation.Congress National Spokesperson Shama Mohamed expressed disappointment on Saturday that despite the Women's Reservation Bill having recently passed Parliament (though it hasn't yet been put into effect), the party—which was the first to introduce it—has only fielded one female candidate from Kerala for the upcoming Legislative Assembly elections. When the media sought Mr Sudhakaran's reaction to Mohamed's statement, the state unit chief brushed off the issue, saying, "Go and ask her. She is not a party member at all.According to Ms. Mohamed, Congressman and Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi has been urging party leaders in Kerala to give attention to his calls for increased representation of women in politics.
