Although Nitish Kumar's exit from the Opposition ranks is a serious setback, it has also provided them with a great opportunity to criticize both Nitish Kumar and the BJP. Although this has restored Mr. Kumar's former reputation as "Paltu Ram," he has also accrued a few derogatory terms, such as "tired" and "chameleon."
This was Mr. Kumar's second time abandoning the Opposition to pursue more fertile ground under the NDA's auspices. The last time he did so was in 2017, in response to accusations of corruption against Lalu Yadav and his son, Tejashwi Yadav, who was then the deputy chief minister, he declined to stay in the Grand Alliance.
Nevertheless, Mr. Kumar left the BJP and joined the Mahagathbandhan in 2022.Today, Mr. Kumar was attacked by leaders of the Trinamool Congress, AAP, DMK, RJD, JMM, CPI(ML)-L, and Congress.
After Nitish Kumar's return, Tejashwi Yadav regained his position as Deputy Chief Minister and was not happy about it.
"The Chief Minister appeared exhausted. I can guarantee you that the JDU party will conclude by 2024. The people support us," he declared.
Mr. Kumar was dubbed a "chameleon" by the Congress. The party's media in-charge, Jairam Ramesh, wrote on X, the former Twitter platform, saying: "Nitish Kumar, who frequently changes political partners, is giving chameleons in changing colors a tough competition." He continued, saying that the people of Bihar would not forgive this "expert of betrayal" and those forcing him to dance to their songs.Sharad Pawar took a jab at Nitish Kumar, saying that he "has created a new record of forming the government with all the parties in a single term."
"In the past, the proverb 'Aayaram Gayaram' had gained immense fame in Haryana. However, Nitish also left it in Bihar," he continued.
Uddhav Thackeray, his alliance partner, was scathing.
"We are living under the rule of the 'Paltu Rams,' not Ram Rajya. Manoj Jarange would not have been required to travel to Mumbai in order to support the Maratha quota demand if Ram Rajya had existed, Mr. Thackeray stated.
