Dave Chappelle Review of The Dreamer: A contentious comedian vows to

The Dreamer, Dave Chappelle's most recent Netflix special, begins with a clever joke that combines his love of sharing personal tales with his signature relaxed style. Unfortunately, he uses it to further a genuinely vile joke that is aimed at—you guessed it—transgender people. Among the many true villains in the world are racists, dishonest politicians, and belligerents, but Chappelle has chosen, for unknown reasons, to turn the LGBT community against them. And it's incredibly sad to see one of the greatest comics of all time use his skill for pettiness that would be laughed at even on a playground in school. In fact, you could easily pass for a middle-aged Indian schoolteacher after seeing him perform in recent years.
You shake your head regretfully and say to yourself, "This boy had so much potential." But Chappelle isn't exactly using his skills for good, like a surgeon who dedicates his life to kidney theft or a theoretical physicist who aids the Nazis during World War II. To top it all off, he simply cannot give up thinking of himself as the one who has been wronged in all of this.In fact, you could easily pass for a middle-aged Indian schoolteacher after seeing him perform in recent years.
