2025 QS Rankings By Subject: American universities lead in 32 academic fields, with Harvard University standing as the best-performing university in 15 of those fields.According to the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings by Subject 2025, the Indian School of Mines (ISM) University, Dhanbad, takes first place in India. In the 15th edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject, 79 Indian institutions are listed.In terms of business and management studies, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad is placed 27th. The 2025 rankings include 29 entries from the University of Delhi, IIT Bombay, and IIT Kharagpur. In absolute terms, IIT Bombay performs the best among them, with 12 subjects showing improvement.

There are now 533 entries from 79 Indian universities in the 2025 QS World University Rankings by Subject, up from 424 entries the previous year. Out of these, 122 new entries made their debut in this edition, while 156 entries improved, 101 decreased, and 154 stayed the same. India sends 79 entries throughout the five major faculty areas, with 65 percent (51 entries) demonstrating progress.
